Built on heritage. Made for today.
Piccadilly Radio 261 is an independent, non-profit internet radio station born in Manchester and broadcasting to the UK. We are not a network, a franchise, or a rebrand of anything that came before — we are a small station run by people who care about the records.
261 metres was a wavelength on the medium wave dial, and for a generation across the North West it meant Manchester radio. We took the number as a tribute. Our 261 Heritage channel is a nostalgia trip built from period-correct music, not archive recordings — those belong to Manchester Library and Bauer, and we would not use them without permission.
One channel is a genuinely live stream. The other five are playlists curated by hand — chosen, sequenced and edited by us, not generated by an algorithm. That is a licensing constraint as much as a creative one: our PRS and PPL licence covers a single live stream, so the themed channels run as curated playlists instead.
Requests, corrections and hellos: support@piccadilly261.com. We read everything.
