The short version: you can listen to every Piccadilly Radio 261 channel without signing up or giving us anything. We do not sell advertising, we do not sell your data, and we only hold personal details you choose to send us, such as an email or a competition entry.
Who we are
This website, piccadillyradio261.co.uk, is run by Piccadilly Radio 261 Ltd, an independent, non-profit internet radio station. We are the "data controller" for the personal information described on this page, which means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for looking after it.
Piccadilly Radio 261 Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16761309.

What we collect, and why
When you email us
If you email us with a request, a question, a memory of Piccadilly Radio or anything else, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it only to read and reply to your message. We keep emails for as long as the conversation needs, and delete them within 12 months unless you ask us to keep something, for example a story you would like us to use.
When you enter a competition
If you enter a competition such as Name That Tune, we receive your name, your email address and your answer. We use them to run the competition, pick the winner, contact the winner and send the prize. For the prize to be posted, the winner will be asked for a postal address. We may say the winner's first name and town on air or on our social media, and we will ask first. Entries from people who did not win are deleted within 3 months of the competition closing. Winners' details are kept for 12 months so we can show a prize was fairly awarded, then deleted.
How people use the website
We use Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, how people found us, roughly which country or city they are in, and whether they used a phone or a computer. It also records when someone presses a Listen button, and which channel. We use this to see what listeners value and to improve the site. It does not tell us who you are, and we never try to identify individual visitors. It is set up without cookies, as explained below.
Website server records
Like every website, our hosting company automatically keeps short-term technical records of requests to the site, including IP addresses and browser type. These are used to keep the site secure and working, and are deleted by the host on a rolling basis.
When you press play
Our six channels are streamed by our streaming provider, StreamerrPanel, run by Unmuted Limited. When you listen, your device connects directly to their servers, which see your IP address and count how many people are listening. The "now playing" details on our site, such as the song title and artwork, also come from their servers. Unmuted Limited handles this data under its own privacy policy.
Other companies involved
- Google: Google Analytics, as above. Our fonts are also loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser asks Google's servers for them and Google sees your IP address.
- Open-Meteo: the Manchester weather on our homepage comes from Open-Meteo, so your browser asks their servers for the forecast and they see your IP address. No other information is sent.
- Our web host, which stores the website and its server records.
- News publishers: our music headlines link to stories on other newspapers' websites, such as the Manchester Evening News. Our server fetches the headlines, so no information about you is sent to those publishers unless you click through to their site.
- Social media: links to our Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube pages take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
We never sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Our website does not set any cookies, which is why you are not asked to accept any.
Google Analytics is set up so it does not store anything in your browser. It sends Google a count of the page you are visiting, without a cookie that would recognise you when you come back. We do not use advertising cookies. If you would rather not be counted at all, Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics on every website.
Our legal reasons for using your data
- Replying to your emails and keeping the site secure: our legitimate interest in running the station and answering listeners.
- Competitions: to run the competition you chose to enter and deliver the prize.
- Analytics: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to stop using it. Email support@piccadilly261.com and we will reply within one month. There is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
Our website and streams are for a general audience. Our competitions are only open to people aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal information, for example by adding a newsletter, we will update this page and the date at the top.
